Colon cleansing is a procedure used for used to eliminating the waste materials from our body. You know the colon is a column which involves intestines and feces. The theory is when you eat your food; it remains in your body for an extended period of time. As a result, it may decay in body, causing release of toxic substance. And these toxins can clog the colon and intestines, which in turn, can cause a lot of diseases and disturbances in the body. Hence it is necessary to de-clog the colon frequently for free movement of blood and food in intestines.
Colon cleaner are alternative medical therapy and is said to be beneficial in removing parasites, maintaining the balance of salts in body, in decongestion of intestines. It is also said to be the way to rejuvenate the whole digestive system in the body and increase in the vitality. Some people also claim that it is a way for weight loss. It is also said to be a way to remedy a lot of problems which may include lower back pain, rectal bleeding, and blood in stool, diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating and chronic fatigue
There are two ways of doing colon cleansing. One way is to it with enemas involving water, and sometimes with other liquids. Murphy Drip is used sometimes as a device to inject water in the body to impart colon cleanser. Other way is orally taking herbs, dietary fibers and laxatives etc. Some of the methods also call for drinking up to 64 ounces of water everyday. Smoking and glutens are among the things to be avoided while going through cleansing.
However, modern day medical science considers it to be quackery, and it is considered to be a long running myth perpetuated by quacks to make money. There has been no scientific evidence on how the treatment is good for the body. It can, at the best, act as a placebo for some people. If it is done with enema, the equipment may hurt the rectum. Also, if done with unsterilized instruments, Amoebiasis can ensue. Bowel is considered to be clean, or at least self-cleansing. So, it does not any pills or any treatment to clean it. Any such methods, i.e. the methods used in colon cleaning may even prove harmful to your health. Colon cleansing may in fact cause dehydration and salt imbalance in the body. Also, the hot water used in some of the therapies can hurt intestinal tract as it may be at higher temperature than what cells in intestines can handle.
A person should live healthy, have exercise and should quit thinking about these quack ways to care of his/her health.
